ELLEN TAYLOR
OWNER + LEAD DESIGNER
Ellen Taylor, the co-owner and lead designer, has four decades of design experience, making her a prominent figure in the industry. After earning her associate degree in Commercial Art and Interior Design from Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1986, Ellen embarked on her career with Calvin Hefner Interiors in Charlotte, North Carolina. There, she gained invaluable insights from a renowned member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
In 1990, Ellen joined Sea Island Interiors of Charleston, South Carolina, to be with her husband. At Sea Island Interiors, her design expertise focused on in-town historical residences and oceanfront and marsh-view mansions in Wild Dunes, Kiawah, and Seabrook.
Over the years, Ellen’s career took her to Columbia, where she worked with several builders, making design decisions for both interiors and exteriors. Subsequently, she joined Sovereign Homes to manage their interior design division. Ellen played a pivotal role in the designs and furnishings of several hundred custom homes in Columbia’s finest neighborhoods and along the shores of the picturesque Lake Murray. Notably, her designs consistently received top honors, winning the award for best interior design in each Parade of Homes she participated in. Soon after becoming a professional IIDA member, Ellen founded Ellen Taylor Interiors + Design and relocated to the Vista in 2007 to enhance her accessibility to her clientele. This move exponentially grew her team to provide design services within the residential and professional commercial design realms. In recent years, she has enjoyed a smaller team as her extended family grows. Ellen loves being a grandparent, traveling with her husband Gary, any time on crystal-clear waters, and activities with her Aussie Doodle Scout, also known as Gallery chaperone.
