Laura Palermo is a young artist in Charleston, SC, who focuses on art activism as a form of aesthetic resolution for conservation of our endangered species. In 2012 Palermo began painting sea turtles to raise awareness and money for the local S.C. Aquarium Sea Turtle Hospital. With each sale, Laura donates 10% of her profits to the program that rehabilitates sick and injured sea turtles for release back into the wild.
Laura's growing curiosity of threatened species has led her in the direction of endangered birds. With 192 species classified as critically endangered, there is a lot to learn, and a lot to paint! Palermo will be donating 10% of the profits of the endangered bird collection to BirdLife International, a partnership providing sustainable solutions for conservation on a local and global level.
